DEA Fund Claim Procedure

Policy Guidelines On Inoperative Accounts (10 Years & Above)/ Unclaimed Deposits
  • As per the Depositor Education and Awareness (DEA) Fund guidelines, an account shall be classified as an inoperative Account / Unclaimed Deposits, if the same is not operated (other than interest credits and service charge debits) for 10 years or more from the date of last operation. Any deposit/ amount remaining unclaimed for 10 years or more shall be transferred to the DEA Fund of RBI during the last five working days of the subsequent month.
  • The Customer / Survivor / Legal Heir / Authorised Signatories, as the case may be, may lodge a claim for the unclaimed deposit to activate the Account.
  • The claim process is as follows: -

    Claim by Self:

    1. Customers should visit our portal https://bankappsweb.bankofbaroda.bank.in/inopaccclaims for claim of unclaimed deposits from anywhere in India. Customers can also submit the claim request at any nearby branch.
    2. To initiate the process, customer needs to click on ‘Self Claim’, enter the mobile number followed by OTP and CAPTCHA verification.
    3. Upon verification, the following two options will appear on the screen:
      1. New Claim
      2. Track Claim
    4. Customer needs to click on ‘New Claim’ and provide the information below and submit.
      1. Customer Name*
      2. Type of Account*: Savings Bank / Current Account / Term Deposits / Others
      3. Account No. or UDRN No* (any one is mandatory)
      4. Branch Details*
      5. Customer Address*
      6. Mob. No*
      7. Email
      8. Upload OVDs for Proof of Identity and Address (PDF only, Maximum file size allowed: 2MB) (optional)
      9. Copy of the SB Passbook, Fixed Deposit Receipt, Cancelled Cheque Leaf etc. (PDF only, Maximum file size allowed: 2MB) (optional)

      *Mandatory fields

    5. Upon submission of the claim, a pop-up message with the Claim Reference Number will be displayed on the screen.
    6. Customer will receive an acknowledgement of the claim request by way of a SMS on her/his mobile and/or on email providing the Claim Reference Number and specifying the branch name that the customer must visit, with the Common Claim Application form (Link available on DEA Fund Claim Portal) and OVDs for document verification within 15 days to process the claim.
    7. Customer must visit the branch, where claim is submitted along with the Claim Application form and submit valid proof of identity, address & latest photograph for verification and further processing of the claim.
    8. Customer can also track the status of the claim by clicking ‘Track Claim’ and entering their Claim Reference Number.
    9. In case of any difficulties, the customer may visit the nearest branch for any assistance.

    Please Note: The claim will be closed on the 45th day after the claim submission date, if customer doesn’t visit the branch for document verification.

    Claim by Legal Heir / Nominee:

    1. For lodging of claim of unclaimed deposits by the Legal Heir/ Nominee, they may visit the Bank’s Deceased Claim portal directly https://appstackweb.bankofbaroda.bank.in/DeceasedClaim/ or visit the Unclaimed Deposit Claim portal and select ‘ Claim by legal heirs of the deceased customer’.
    2. It will be redirected to the Deceased Claim Settlement portal of the Bank for onward processing of the claim. Legal Heir/Nominee must lodge the claim on the portal, submit the required documents and comply with the claim settlement process of the Bank.

    Claim by Non-Individual:

    1. In case of non-individual customers like Firms, Companies, Societies, Registered/Unregistered Bodies, Central/State Government Departments, the customers are advised to visit their Base- Branch directly to initiate the claim request.
    2. The customer needs to submit the Claim Form on the Company’s/ Firm’s / Institution’s letterhead duly signed by the authorized signatories along with their valid identity and address proofs. The customer may also be required to submit such other documents as may be requested by the Bank.
