Bank of Baroda has opened a new branch at E.M. Bypass, Metropolitan, Kolkata, reaffirming its commitment to customer service and accessibility. With this addition, the total number of Bank of Baroda branches in Kolkata Zone now stands at 265. The branch was inaugurated by Shri Lal Singh, Executive Director of the Bank, along with Shri K. R. Kagadal, General Manager and Zonal Head, Kolkata Zone. As part of the day’s engagements, the Bank also undertook a CSR initiative at Krishnapur Adarsha Vidyamandir for Girls, Dum Dum Park, where 50 bicycles and school bags were distributed to girl students to support their access to education and encourage regular school attendance. The Bank also organised an MSME Customer Outreach Programme at Raajkutir RaasManch-I, Kolkata, bringing together prominent MSME business leaders, senior Bank officials, Regional Heads, and representatives from specialised units, including the SME Loan Factory (SMELF) and SME Cells. Bank of Baroda convened the 190th Meeting of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC), Gujarat, at Gandhinagar, in the esteemed presence of Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat. Dr. Debadatta Chand, Chairman, SLBC Gujarat and MD & CEO, Bank of Baroda, chaired the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Shri Manoj Kumar Das, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat; Dr. T. Natrajan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Gujarat; Shri Sanjeev Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Gujarat; Smt. Swagat R. Bhandari, Director, Department of Financial Services, Government of India; Shri Amresh Ranjan, Regional Director, RBI Ahmedabad; Shri Raveesh Kumar, Convenor, SLBC Gujarat & General Manager, Bank of Baroda; and senior officials from the Government, RBI, NABARD, member banks and other stakeholder institutions. The Committee reviewed the Q1 FY 2026-27 banking performance and deliberated on strengthening credit delivery across Agriculture, MSMEs, Financial Inclusion, SHG-Bank Linkage, Government-sponsored schemes and Cyber Security, with special focus on improving credit deployment in Dang. The revised Lead Bank Scheme framework, under which three new SLBC Sub-Committees on MSME & Other Priority Sector, Financial Inclusion & Financial Literacy, and Self-Help Groups have been constituted, was also discussed during the meeting. The Best Performing Lead District Managers for Q1 FY 2026-27 were also felicitated for their contribution towards developmental banking and financial inclusion. At FIBAC 2026, Dr. Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO, Bank of Baroda, shared the Bank’s AI journey, including an AI Virtual front office in select branches that facilitates both financial and non-financial transactions. He also highlighted mobile banking through the upcoming bob World 2.0, which will be voice-enabled and powered by AI, allowing customers to perform transactions through voice commands.
